Iris's Story
This photo was taken at Arnold UGC School back in June 1965 the room number was 110. I am the one to the left (14 years old).
After that almost all of us went across the street to Waller High School on September 1965.
I can remember some of my classmates first names but not all of them:
Dolores, John, Theodore, Efrain, Brenda, Rosemary, Santos, Carmen, Wendy & Brunilda.
I attended Waller High from 1965 - 1967. I quit school and shacked up with my husband, so I never got to graduate from high school.
I always wanted to be a Secretary when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a very far idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
To blow off steam I just close my eyes and envision that I am in Puerto Rico. My favorite way to relax is by laying on the couch and watching television.
If I won $100 million, I'd give $5000 of it to church, then spend the rest on ...Expand for more
orphans, family and myself.
My current age is 59. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be wiser. I was so completely right.
My best friend would tell you I'm trust worthy, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as unsociable.
In 10 years, I hope to be alive. I'm going to get there by taking care of myself.
If there was a high school reunion everyone would be surprised to see that I am no longer that 80 pound girl.
My first job was at Midwest Coil Company, where I got paid $60.00 to $65.00. What I remember most about it is my first pay check.
I will never forget that we used to live at 1361 N. Cleveland St & I started Manierre Elementary School at 5 years old until I was 10 yrs old. I still have dreams about our apartment & the school.
I hope all my old friends remember me as a happy girl, good friend & great secret keeper.
